Megan Griffiths

Born and raised in the Comox Valley, Megan can still remember her first experience, aged 12, when she was a hair model for a local salon owner. She immediately fell in love with the creative and social atmosphere, and that pivotal experience eventually inspired her to become a stylist. Megan has been excited about advanced education since her start as an apprentice in 2004. Her passion for advancing her knowledge has seen her work as a hairdresser in Australia and pursue further training by completing various advanced certificates throughout North America with Wella, Goldwell, Davines, Kevin Murphy and SR Education. Four years ago Megan realized her dream of becoming an entrepreneur, opening Hairpins Boutique in Courtenay alongside stylist Staysea Brown. She currently works as a Gold Key educator with Kevin Murphy. Keen to share her love for hair through education, she wants to  inspire others to continue to learn and grow.

Courtenay Girard

Courtenay grew up in the interior of BC but by 2004 she moved to Eastern Canada in search of change. While living in Montreal, aspirations of becoming a teacher led Courtenay to complete a bachelor’s degree in French. During this time she also began pursuing a long-time passion in hair, which was to become her new career direction. Having since trained with Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, and Davines, along with a specialized freehand hair painting course at the Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica and a blonding class with celebrity colourist Tracey Cunningham in Beverly Hills, she has never stopped learning. Currently Courtenay is working as a senior stylist at Hairpins Boutique in the Comox Valley while continuing her training with SR Education and studying for a Provincial Instructor Diploma at Vancouver Community College. Courtenay is thrilled to be launching another career in education, teaching others the skilled craft she has come to know and love.
