Staysea grew up in her auntie’s hair salon sweeping floors and shampooing clients through her teens. She eventually earned her cosmetology license and has been working as a skilled stylist for over 12 years. Her contagious energy and charismatic personality make her an asset to every team she works with and, in 2011, she realized a lifelong dream of opening her own salon, Haripins Boutique, with fellow stylist Megan Griffiths. Stylist, salon owner and now mentor, Staysea continues to develop Hairpins' junior stylist program and has found a new sense of inspiration through her advanced training with TIGI, Goldwell, Davines, SR Education and Kevin Murphy. Staysea's motto is to always take something away from every class she is in and she is very excited to share her unique teaching style, to inspire students and future stylists alike.
Born and raised in the Comox Valley, Megan can still remember her first experience, aged 12, when she was a hair model for a local salon owner. She immediately fell in love with the creative and social atmosphere, and that pivotal experience eventually inspired her to become a stylist. Megan has been excited about advanced education since her start as an apprentice in 2004. Her passion for advancing her knowledge has seen her work as a hairdresser in Australia and pursue further training by completing various advanced certificates throughout North America with Wella, Goldwell, Davines, Kevin Murphy and SR Education. Four years ago Megan realized her dream of becoming an entrepreneur, opening Hairpins Boutique in Courtenay alongside stylist Staysea Brown. She currently works as a Gold Key educator with Kevin Murphy. Keen to share her love for hair through education, she wants to inspire others to continue to learn and grow.
Courtenay grew up in the interior of BC but by 2004 she had moved to Eastern Canada in search of change. While living in Montreal, aspirations of becoming a teacher led Courtenay to complete a bachelor’s degree in French. During this time she also began pursuing a long-time passion in hair, which was to become her new career direction. She has since trained with Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, Davines, Goldwell, Kevin Murphy, celebrity colourist Tracey Cunningham and Australian colourists Edwards and Co. She has also completed a year long teacher training program with SR Education. Currently Courtenay is working as a Senior Stylist and Educator at Foundation.
